On page 441 of the Latin translation of Laxdæla saga published in 1826, the Hamingjur are glossed as “genii tutelares, qvi Parcis sunt inferiores.” This may be rendered as “Tutelar Spirits (which are) inferior to the Parcae.” Who are these Parcae Goddesses of Fate? Undoubtedly, They are the Nornir. So, in this particular description of the Hamingjur, the Nornir are depicted as Superior Beings within the domain of fate, whereas the Hamingjur are regarded as being of lesser standing in comparison to Them.
